Since not every reader can do what Kingsolver and family did - move to a new home and grow all their own food - they can live vicariously through this book. Recipes, advice and some in-depth looks at the problems of modern agriculture are included. I don't particularly like Kingsolver's fiction, but I really enjoyed this book.
